Special Fundraising Event for CarePartners of WNC

What an honor to be asked to photograph this very touching and moving fundraiser for CarePartners of Western North Carolina. The luncheon, held at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Asheville, was appropriately titled 'A Variety Show' featuring a theme based from many hit TV series between the 1960's & 1970's. They had an amazing turn-out and their contributors, many of whom, dressed up in different characters for the theme. The event was Emceed by Ken & Tammy in the morning from local radio station 96.5 FM. Sally, the superstar coordinator of the event, had many different forms of entertainment for the variety show, to include a Sarah Palin stand-up comedian, The Autumn Players, A belly-dancer, various singers and even a hoola-hoop contest!

Steve's New Actor Headshots

This very handsome & talented actor, Steve, asked me to help him update his actor headshots and was happy to do it! One beautiful and sunny spring afternoon, I went to his house and chose some beautiful areas around his yard. I also wanted to get some shots with a downtown/street vibe, so we packed up my gear and headed to 'photographers alley' in Asheville. Here's what I got!

Brand New Name Change!

Well, the time has arrived.....we've decided to change things up a bit over here and well, a new name has been decided! Karri Brantley Photography. Has a lovely ring to it, doesn't it?!? We spiced it up with a different color too. Thanks to Firefly Design Studio in downtown Asheville.

It's an exciting time and it's all a buzz over here! We're working towards updating our website, this blog and even working towards a new Facebook Fan Page. Wha-hooooo! Should be launching sometime in early July. Stay tuned for more offers and updates!

Breath takingly beautiful, Krisa!

This headshot session was full of fun and pizazz! Krisa is a natural when a camera is pointed in her direction. Speaking of direction, I barely communicated out of my mouth what I was looking for, and bam, she shot me THE look and away I clicked! And patient, I mean "fogettabouit!" WOW.....anything I asked her to do, in the sub zero temperature of a Michigan winter no less, she didn't complain a bit. That is dedication my friend. You'd never know that this trooper was outside, braving the cold and wind most of the time! We laughed a lot, so that was helpful and I was focused on being as efficient as I could be. And those blue eyes, no joke, I didn't edit them AT ALL! Legit. You should see them in person. Breath taking! Rock it girl!

So, with these new photos, Krisa is hoping to break into the modeling/ auto show event circuit. Break legs Krisa! You have every reason to feel good about these and hope it brings you TONS of work. Blessings......

Joel grew a beard! Check it out....

OMG, it has been many months since I've seen on of my dearest friends, Joel. Ironically, we live about 2.5 hours away in North Carolina, but when we are back home in Michigan over the holidays, we finally get together. Strange, huh?! Well, we actually go way, way back to our innocent high school days. Let's just say, a 'couple of years' or so ago.

Anyways, Joel has recently been shooting some online how-to videos for Lowe's {yup the all encompassing hardware store, click on the link and learn how to fix a toilet!} and needed some 'rugged' headshots. This is the first time he's grown a full beard, and I'm not going to mention how long it took him, 2 months, but thought it would be a great opportunity to document this rare form of his manly appearance. Here's a couple of shots I took one COLD wintry afternoon in Michigan.

Yearly Grand Kids Photo Shoot for the Atteberry Family!

Here's the scenario......place me in a room photographing six grand kids under the age of eight with their mom's and grandma in the same room and you have yourself an explosion of various emotions, as well as, all sorts of different directions. The answer..... the beginning of the shoot you are offered a mimosa.

You may be wondering, well duh?! As a constant teachable photographer, I am forever learning the do's and do not's of photographing young ones. Each shoot is different. I have heard from the best of photographers, there is no master plan. Only a master idea. Cool. Right?! Well, my master idea and what I was hired to photograph, was six grand kids in a lifestyle session, and my main goal was to have FUN! I definitely had fun as did every one else, but I learned that perhaps trying to photograph six young ones, with a total of four adults in the room, may not be the best for 'the shot!' We all laughed, believe me, but we all had the same interest of wanting what was best for the photo. Looking back now, I would have only had me in the room, so the kids could focus on just my direction. Although, I am not sure that would have happened either. Its funny because I have known this family since I was 13, so to me I was among family so of course we would all be in the room together.

I'm merely mentioning this because one of my intentions for this blog is to share in my experiences and strengths I've learned as a photographer. Well, this experience allowed me to learn a new strength while having fun {not to mention the 'must have mimosa' for the photographer!}.

We started with a little bit of brotherly love, followed below, with sweet Avery showing me her favorite toy.

This shot below cracks me up. Every single personality at its best!

Here's another photo below where 'directions' were coming from all directions.

Got a great shot, below, of a very sweet moment with Cindy and her son, Brett.

Here's Keri {yup that was confusing in the room too!}, wonderful mom to the four boys around her and amazing aunt to Avery and Brett next to them.

Gotta get Grandma DiDi in this shoot too.....

Marshmellow time......

Seriously, we all suited up and went outside to play in the snow. I. Was. Covered. From. Head. To. Toe. And LOVED every minute of it!!!
